Junior Football League Champions 2017-11-11 15:17:00

On Friday 10th November, Kevin Casey's men achieved what they set out to do at the start of the year. Having been relegated back to the second division last year in unsatisfactory circumstances, they managed to bounce straight back to the top flight.

The game was played in Cloughduv in decent conditions considering the time of year. Blarney started the stronger of the two, rushing into a 6 point lead after 15 mins, aided by a Keith Costello goal. Dripsey responded with a goal of their own a few minutes later. Trading points for the remainder of the half and another Blarney goal, left us 4 up at the break.

Two quick goals at the start of the second for Dripsey turned the game on its head. Points were again traded for the the majority of the half until Blarney struck another goal with ten to go to leave them 2 down with roughly ten left on the clock. Thankfully, Blarney took over the game in the closing minutes, scoring four unanswered points, including a massive score from 40 yards from Sean Crowley and 2 from Joe Jordan.

Blarney have now secured themselves League 1 football for 2018. This is vital when it comes to championship preparation. In order to be competitive in championship we must be playing at the highest level all year and the lads have secured that for themselves now.

Final Score Blarney 3-13 Dripsey 3-11

Well done to Kevin Casey and everyone involved.  CLick here for photos.
