Inaugural Over 35s Comp 2018-12-03 10:03:00

Last Saturday we held our very first Over 35s Hurling Competition. Over 40 players took part with four teams playing a blitz style competition.

Each team played each other in 15 minute games, with the top two playing in the final and the other two teams playing for the wooden spoon.

But the evening was not about winning and losing. It was all about bringing guys together in a fun and social game which everyone enjoyed.

That night all went to The Blarney Castle Hotel who kindly put on food and refreshments for those who took part.

Thanks to all who participated and assisted in organising this event.

€500 was raised from the day which will be donated to Blarney St Vincent de Paul.

Cork GDA Colm Crowley who established Cork Social GAA in recent months and inspired this competition, commented

"Great to see more and more "auld lads" getting out on the pitch playing Hurling & Football. The enjoyment of playing a game they love and more importantly, hugely beneficial for physical and mental wellbeing."
