Coaching the Coaches
In the ever-evolving world of sports, the role of the coach is pivotal not only in nurturing talent but also in instilling discipline, teamwork, and a love for the game. Recognizing the profound impact coaches have on children’s development, we have taken on an initiative to elevate coaching standards through a comprehensive Coaching the Coaches program. Coaching Officer Brian Murray is keen to get involved with all ages,“ I am working closely with Michael O Mahoney in the Club Na Og section and soon we will be delivering a club measurement/test on all core skills for the u5-u11 children there is also a plan around how we will test and achieve our goal for all kids to be competent in all core skills before they go into the Juvenile section. This will help the coaches as we are moving towards game based sessions in the juvenile section,So lots being done and more to do but I am confident with all these ideas we will much stronger in coaching terms in the next few years “
Recognizing that the sports landscape is constantly changing, we emphasize continuous education. We organize regular workshops, webinars, and seminars featuring experts such as Canice Hickey, who gave an exceptional talk on sports Psychology . This ongoing education helps coaches stay ahead of the curve ensuring they can provide the best possible guidance to our young players.
Our coaching the coaches initiative is being engaged with great enthusiasm by all coaches. We aim to create a supply of highly skilled, knowledgeable, and motivated coaches who can inspire and lead our young players to achieve their full potential, not just in GAA but all aspects of life. By investing in the development of our coaches, we are laying the groundwork for a brighter future in sports, where athletes receive top-notch guidance and support every step of the way.
