Meet Brian Murray our new Schools coaching Officer. He’s very excited to start his role and has some great ideas for the role.
Here’s what Brian himself had to say,
“I am delighted to say I have accepted the position as Coaching officer for Blarney GAA and was surprised to have been approached for the position,I am currently involved with the schools GAA GO games programme with Blarney NS ,GaelScoil Muscairi and Rathpeacon NS and am responsible for this programme for the current year taking over from Martin Lynch who has been involved with past 16 yrs on it ,I have Kieran Walsh as the Coach replacing Fachtna O Connor as Fachtna has moved on to coach as a GDA for Cork County Board and I wish him well in that position ,Kieran has big boots to fill but I have faith in him.
I’m also really looking forward to mentoring, assisting and working alongside all the Coaches in the club to develop plans in areas such as a player development pathway, coach education and a open discussion on a Playing style/identity for Blarney Gaa. My initial priority will be Coaching the Coach to be a better coach using the most up to date coaching methods and a clear structure for the coaches to help them coach to the best of their abilities, I will draw on my background and qualifications to help them achieve this.
I would appreciate if any individuals who have any suggestions or ideas that they feel can help better the club in the coaching area to make contact with me, and I will make every effort to facilitate their idea”.
